We’re excited to share that House Bill 1733, which would establish state licensure for art therapists in Pennsylvania, was officially introduced on Monday, July 14, 2025, by Representative Tim Briggs. This important step forward came after a successful meeting with Ryan Stevens, part of the Duane Morris Government Strategies lobbying team representing the PAATA in Harrisburg.
Currently, anyone in Pennsylvania can offer art therapy services, even without proper education or clinical training. HB 1733 would change that, ensuring that only those with proper education, clinical training, and credentials can call themselves art therapists, protecting both the public and our profession.
